Private sector credit in Australia increased by 0.2 percent month-on-month in June 2023, easing from a 0.4 percent rise in May while marking the slowest growth since March. Credit eased for both business (0.3% vs 0.5% in May) and housing (0.2% vs 0.3%). Meantime, personal credit growth was unchanged (at 0.1%). On an annual basis, private sector credit increased by 5.5 percent in June, the least since October 2021, after a 6.2 percent growth in May.

Private sector credit in Australia increased by 0.4 percent month-on-month in May 2023, easing from a 0.6 percent rise in April and matching market consensus. Housing credit advanced 0.3 percent (vs 0.4 percent in April) and lending to non-financial businesses was up 0.5 percent (vs 1.0 percent). At the same time, personal credit growth was unchanged at 0.2 percent. On an annual basis, private sector credit increased by 6.2 percent in May, slowing from a 6.6 percent growth in April.
