Private house approvals in Australia fell on a seasonally adjusted basis by 0.1% from the prior month to 8,084 units in July 2023, compared to a downwardly revised 1.0% decline in the previous month, a preliminary reading showed. The latest result marked the third monthly rise so far this year, mainly supported by growing permits in Western Australia (6.0%) and Queensland (5.0%). By contrast, approvals were down in South Australia (-9.1%), Victoria (-4.0%), and New South Wales (-3.0%).
