Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia jumped 119.64 percent year-on-year to 1.06 million in June 2023, amid a continued recovery in the tourism sector as the economy fully reopened from pandemic restrictions. International arrivals were dominated by visitors from Singapore (204.87%), Malaysia (77.12%), and Australia (104.96%). Considering the first six months of the year, tourist arrivals surged 250.3 percent from the same period in 2022. Last year, tourist arrivals surged 251.3 percent to 5.47 million, exceeding the government's target of 3.6 million visitors, buoyed by an improvement in global travel. The Southeast Asian nation has set a target of more than 7 million visitors this year.
