Eurozone Services Sentiment Drops to 8-Month Low
The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area dropped for a third consecutive month to 5.7 in July 2023, the lowest level since last November and compared with market forecasts of 5.4. A marked deterioration in service providers’ assessment of past demand was partially offset by an increase in their assessment of the past business situation. Demand expectations remained broadly stable.

The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area dropped for a second consecutive month to 5.7 in June 2023, the lowest level since last November and below market forecasts of 5.5, reflecting less optimistic views on both past and expected demand. Meanwhile, service providers’ appraisals of the past business situation remained broadly unchanged.

The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area fell to 7.0 in May 2023, down from a revised 9.9 the month before and well below market expectations of 10.2. Sentiment among service providers hit its lowest level since November 2022, reflecting less upbeat views on both past and expected demand as well as, to a lesser extent, the past business situation.
