The number of people registering as jobless in Spain fell by 10,968 people, or 0.4 percent, to 2.68 million in July 2023, compared to market expectations of a 38.2 thousand decline. Unemployment has decreased for a fifth consecutive period, reaching the lowest level since September 2008 when it stood at 2.62 million people. By category, unemployment fell in services (-7,126 people), agriculture (-1,861), industry (-964), and among people without previous employment (-2,203). By region, the biggest decreases were reported in Andalucía (-5,166), Comunidad de Madrid (-2,926), and Galicia (-1,579). Compared to July 2022, unemployment has decreased by 205,938 people.
