The value of retail sales in Italy edged 0.2% lower month-over-month in June 2023, the first decline in four months, after a downwardly revised 0.6% hike in May. Sales of non-food products were down 0.7% while food sales were up 0.3%. Volume sales were also lower, falling by 0.7%, implying a weakening of consumers' demand, due to high inflationary pressures. On a yearly basis, retail trade rose 3.6% in June 2023, following a 3% increase in the previous month.
