Mexico Car Production Rises for 15th Month
Mexico's car output rose by 13.2% year-on-year to 294,350 thousand units in July 2023, reaching the highest level for a July month since 2020. Mexico Car Production Continues to Rise
Mexico's car output increased by 16.3 percent year-on-year to 331.707 thousand units in June 2023, reaching the highest level for a June month since 2019. This marks the 14th consecutive month of growth in auto production, driven by the increased production at Ford Motor (67.7 percent), Nissan (80.3 percent), Toyota (17.0 percent), and Volkswagen (33.6 percent). However, General Motors, KIA, and Stellantis experienced declines in production by 37.5 percent, 8.5 percent, and 6.5 percent, respectively.

Mexican Car Output Growth Quickens to 8-Month High
Car production in Mexico rose by 25.1% from a year earlier to 344,201 units in May of 2023, the highest level for that month since 2019. It marks the 13th consecutive month of increases in Mexican car output and the strongest since last September. Among major automakers, production grew for General Motors (+22.4% to 69,327), Nissan (+50% to 56,659), Ford Motor (+70.6% to 40,463) and Stellantis (+10.7% to 40,521). On the other hand, decreases were recorded for Volkswagen (-22% to 22,272), Mercedes Benz (-31% to 6,333) and KIA (-3.4% to 23,000).
